12 Days of Christmas baking with Charlton and Jenrick
Charlton & Jenrick based in Telford, Shropshire manufacture of a range of fires from gas and electric to wood-burning stoves. Back in February 2022 they introduced a wood-burning stove to their range which allows you to cook by wood-fire (how cool is that!!!). They named this the Go Eco BakeChef which is designed to work in a home or larger glamping tents and similar.
This stove blends the latest clean air stove technology with an oven and hob to create a unique stove experience. With this in mind Charlton & Jenrick were keen to do something festive, fun and a little different to illustrate exactly what you can do on such a stove.
After some debate the idea of the Twelve Days of Christmas (Go Eco BakeChef edition) was conceived!
Over the space of several weeks, including during the unseasonable heatwave in September, the team at Charlton & Jenrick got their creative ideas and festive recipes ready and set about filming their cooking antics from their trade showroom in Telford.
There was not just one “master” chef, but several dedicated members of staff got together to share the cooking and recipe ideas! The concept of the twelve days of Christmas (Go Eco BakeChef edition) was to create twelve separate dishes, to coincide with the twelve days song. Some of the chefs were very inexperienced chefs, which is testament to the ease of use of the BakeChef, and their sheer motivation!
What started as an idea in the Marketing Department sometime in August soon spread to the entire business with a constant supply of ideas, suggestions and offers of help coming in.
“We wanted to do something a little different. Making it fun for the team but also demonstrating the range of delicious things you can prepare on a Go Eco BakeChef stove. You don’t need to be an expert chef or experienced with cooking by wood. You simply need some patience and creative thought!”
Dane Beckett – Marketing Director, Charlton & Jenrick.
The cooking and filming mainly took place on Fridays – where there were (unsurprisingly) no lack of staff wanting to volunteer as food tasters! Not only have they produced the twelve dishes as planned, they have also made a cook book for all the dishes – which can be viewed here. They also managed a couple of Halloween recipes such was their excitement for cooking!
